THE RAGING BULL

Ferruccio Lamborghini

The story of the most recognizable brand of vehicles in the world starts as most do, with a vision. Ferruccio Lamborghini was born on April the 28th, 1916, in Renazzo di Cento, in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy. The eldest son of Antonio and Evaline Lamborghini, a pair of viticulturists (grape farmers). From a young age, Ferruccio was less attracted to the labor of agriculture than the mechanical aspects of farming equipment. Ferruccio's mechanical inclination would lead him to many entrepreneurial pursuits in his adulthood, including improving and manufacturing tractors (Lamborghini Tractori SpA) and heating and air conditioning units (Bruciatori SpA).

This love of engines also put him squarely on the path of automotive pursuits. With his business interests finding success in Italy and global markets, he acquired a taste for the finer things. His collection of autos included a Mercedes-Benz 300SL, a Jaguar E-Type coupé, two Maserati 3500 GTs, and of course, a Ferrari 250 GT. But all these cars didn't seem to satisfy him. One might have been a luxurious ride, but it lacked speed. Another might have been fast, but the engine noise was deafening. Feeling he could again make improvements, he ventured to see Enzo Ferrari himself with suggestions. Ferrari refused to see him at all. Spurned by this rejection, Ferruccio started his automobile manufacturing company - Automobili Ferruccio Lamborghini S.p.A., in 1963.

Ferruccio had a deep fascination with bullfighting. Before founding Lamborghini in 1962, he visited Don Eduardo Miura in Seville, Spain, a famous bull breeding ranch. Ferruccio, a Taurus himself and being chiefly described as stubborn, forward-thinking, and at times aggressively rash, could think of no better symbol to summarize his new line of luxury sports vehicles. When the first car rolled off the line, the original Lamborghini 350 GTV, the raging bull, was affixed to the hood. Since that day 59 years ago, every single model has continued to carry the legacy and vision of Ferruccio Lamborghini, his indomitable spirit, and that bovid beast.

Lamborghini Club America

Beverly Hills, California - In 1975, Don Tognotti founded a club of Lamborghini drivers to discuss parts, problems and share the unique experiences of driving supercars. Don named it simply The Club - a title as exclusive and secretive as the drivers themselves. With the production of Lamborghinis so limited in the US, sustaining The Club often involved joining other high-end car clubs such as Maserati in what would be called Concorso Italiano in Monterey, California.

In 1987 two members of The Club, Jim Fox and Jim Heady would make their way over to a breathtaking vineyard in Italy. Already an honorary member, they would bestow Ferrucio Lamborghini as an official member of The Club, cementing his legacy on those who enjoy the fruits of his life's labor and namesake. Two years later, The Club would officially change its name to Lamborghini Club America, celebrating the 25th anniversary of Lamborghini's founding.

Now, 35 years after shaking the hand of Ferrucio himself, Lamborghini Club America stands as one of the most prestigious supercar clubs in the world. They travel from Hawaii to Dubai and other luxurious locales for epic adventures, all while celebrating the craftsmanship of the vehicles that have brought them together. Members of the club have ranged from foreign royalty to A-list celebrities, a level of status we rarely see around the SWAE facility.

The Seranta signature series had this group of 30 Lamborghini drivers setting their sights on Montana's breathtaking mountains, soaked in all the splendor of fall. Club members drove some of the most beautiful highways in the country while experiencing the best food and service in the region at the Green-O on the Paws Up resort. With vehicles ranging from hypercar class in the Aventador to the classic Gallardo, this was a dream sighting for anyone who considers themselves a fan of cars. While overcoming some slight rains in the area - these steadfast drivers would continue to see all this state has to offer throughout the weekend.

SWAE is proud to announce our joining this group of elite drivers and adventures. For the road ahead and whatever dreams may come, we consider ourselves lucky to be behind the wheel of the raging bull with Lamborghini Club America.
